*** Service Manager Learning Disabilities***

My client is a registered charity and has been established for over 25 years. They support over 280 people with learning disabilities in England and Wales to have a full life. They provide services in Residential Homes, Supported Living and offer floating support services to people with a variety of Learning Disabilities.

They are now looking for a Locality Service Manager on an initial 6 month contract to manage a service area in North London. The hours are 30 per week on a rota basis.

The main purpose of the role will be to:

  • To ensure each person supported is offered the opportunity of individual support through appropriate key working, Person Centred Practices and Positive Behaviour Support principles.

 

  • To meet the requirement of the Health & Social Care Act and subsequent relevant legislation and to oversee the achievement of Essential Standards of Quality and Safety (England) / Regulations & Standards for Domiciliary Care Agencies (Wales)

  • To lead and direct the staff to ensure the highest possible quality of life for the people we support.

  • To ensure the continuous development and review of the plans of the people supported in partnership with the people supported and staff ensuring that the whole staff team are informed of changes.

 

  • To take the lead for the implementation and monitoring of the Medication Policy.

 

  • To ensure that the people supported are encouraged in making their own choices, in communicating their wishes, and in being “listened to” whatever their means of communication.

 

  • To be willing to take a positive part in the spiritual support and nurturing of the people we support according to the individual’s beliefs, wishes and customs.

 

  • To supervise Deputy Managers and where appropriate Support Workers.

 

  • To delegate Supervision of other staff and to ensure that it meets the requirements of Walsingham Policy. To lead the recruitment process and ensure all staff vacancies are filled appropriately and within a timely manner and to ensure all staff receive full and comprehensive Induction.

 

  • To ensure that all staff have regular supervision and appraisal, and that Learning & Development needs are identified and appropriately progressed.

 

  • To audit aspects of service delivery, maintaining accurate internal and external Quality Monitoring records.

 

  • To take an active role in the development and growth of the services provided by the company.

 

  • To source new business, developing leads and ensuring that they are followed up.

 

  • To effectively monitor and develop existing contracts establishing further business opportunities by seeking other areas that can be developed ensuring you maintain a good local market knowledge to ensure that the organisation is aware of all competition and any changes that will affect performance or positioning

 

  • To develop the annual revenue and capital budget for the service, with agreed timescales and to manage the service’s budget in consultation with the Operations and Development Manager and the Finance Department.

  • To be registered with the appropriate inspection and monitoring authorities as required

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services or equivalent or a willingness to complete the qualification within 12 months of appointment.

 

  • To develop professional relationships with people inside and outside the company – particularly with Commissioners, Care Managers, CQC/CSSIW staff and NHS staff.

 

  • Where required within the locality a full manual driving licence valid for driving in the UK.

 

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience of working at a supervisory level in a care/support setting within the last 3 years in the Learning Disabilities sector.
