***POLICY AND RESEARCH OFFICER***

My client is a registered charity and has been established for over 25 years. They support over 280 people with learning disabilities in England and Wales to have a full life. They provide services in Residential Homes, Supported Living and offer floating support services to people with a variety of Learning Disabilities.

Due to the companies continuous growth and expansion they are now looking to recruit a Policy & Research Officer to work at their head office based in London. The role is a full time permanent position Monday to Friday 9-5pm with a starting salary of £22/23k.

Duties:

To develop new policies where required and review existing policies and procedures within the O&D department.

  • The role will take on responsibility for leading on health and safety management systems and reports within the company.

  • The role will lead on research.

  • Manage existing Policy and Procedure reviews involving staff and people we support;

  • Ensure changes to legislation, regulatory guidelines and general best practice are researched, assessing their impact on or identifying the opportunities for the company and revising policy manuals as appropriate

  • Develop, communicate and publish the strategies, standards, policies and procedures which support operations and update these accordingly.

  • To raise the companies profile by engaging in key activities, groups and projects affecting social care and related activities.

  • To attend key meetings and represent the companies and ensure information and key messages are communicated effectively to O&D

  • To scope for business development opportunities and communicate these effectively.

  • To support tender writing and ensure key information is available to (Policy / Statistics / reports /case studies and ‘banks’ of responses to key questions)

  • Provide expert advice to Directors, Senior Managers and local Management Teams on all aspects of care and support service standards, policies and procedures when required.

  • To be lead and support projects when required

  • To lead on the Health and Safety management system and Accident and Injury information systems, analysing data, producing reports and information to monitor performance.

 

Essential experience:

  • 2 years’ work experience within relevant sector

  • Experience of Policy Development

  • Experience of Research and providing update communication to key departments

  • Good verbal communication skills and an ability to network effectively

  • Excellent literacy skills and an ability to develop and present clear and concise reports (business writing skills)

  • Ability to understand and interpret complex information including legislation, statistical and financial to identify issues and recommend solutions

  • Good research skills in gathering and analysing feedback and recommending action
